The Traffic Director for London, in accordance with a direction given to him by the Secretary of State under section 58(1) of the Road Traffic Act 1991(1) and in exercise of the powers conferred on the Secretary of State by sections 9 and 10 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984(2), and of all other enabling powers, hereby makes the following Order:—

Commencement and citation

1.  This Order may be cited as The A205 Trunk Road (Lewisham) Red Route Experimental Traffic Order 1997 Variation Order 1997, and shall come into force on 12th January 1998.

Variations

2.  The A205 Trunk Road (Lewisham) Red Route Experimental Traffic Order 1997(3) is varied as provided by the following provisions of this Order.

3.  In Schedule 2B item 2 is substituted as follows:

“north side, from a point 4.0 metres west of the common boundary of Nos. 249 and 251 Brownhill Road, east for a distance of 69.0 metres.”

4.  In Schedule 3B a new item 1A is inserted as follows:

“Brownhill Road south side, from the common boundary of Nos. 182 and 184 Brownhill Road, west for a distance of 11.0 metres.”

5.  In Schedule 4 item 7 is substituted as follows:

“south side, from the common boundary of Nos. 170 and 172 Brownhill Road, east for a distance of 25.0 metres.”

6.  In Schedule 4 item 8 is substituted as follows:

“north side, from a point 43.0 metres east of the eastern property boundary of No. 203 Brownhill Road, east for a distance of 21.0 metres.”

7.  In Schedule 4 item 13 is substituted as follows:

“south side, from the party wall of Nos. 346 and 348 Brownhill Road, to the western kerbline of Verdant Lane.”

8.  In Schedule 4 items 12 and 19 are deleted.

Power to modify or suspend this Order

9.  If it appears to the Traffic Director for London, or some person authorised by him, essential in the interests of the expeditious, convenient and safe movement of traffic, or of the provision of suitable and adequate parking facilities on the highway, or for preserving or improving the amenities of the area through which any road affected by this Order runs, and after consulting with the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis, he may modify or suspend any provision of this Order, save that no modification shall make an addition.
