Whereas Her Majesty, in pursuance of the Regency Acts 1937 to 1953, was pleased, by Letters Patent dated the 18th day of June 1997, to delegate to the six Counsellors of State therein named or any two or more of them full power and authority during the period of Her Majesty’s absence from the United Kingdom to summon and hold on Her Majesty’s behalf Her Privy Council and to signify thereat Her Majesty’s approval for anything for which Her Majesty’s approval in Council is required:
Now, therefore, His Royal Highness The Prince Charles, Prince of Wales, and his Royal Highness The Prince Andrew, Duke of York, being authorised thereto by the said Letters Patent, and in pursuance of the powers conferred by the Colonial Boundaries Act 1895(1) and all other powers enabling Her Majesty, and by and with the advice of Her Majesty’s Privy Council, do on Her Majesty’s behalf order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:—
1. This Order may be cited as the Bermuda (Territorial Sea) (Amendment) Order 1997 and shall come into force on 17th July 1997.
2. Paragraph (3) of article 3 of the Bermuda (Territorial Sea) Order in Council 1988(2) shall be amended to read as follows:
“(3) The baseline from which the breadth of the territorial sea is measured between a point on the coast at 32°15.'2N 64°52'.2W inshore of Hogfish Cut and a point on the coast at 32°22'.7N 64°39'.8W inshore of Town Cut, subject to paragraph (4) of this article, shall be a line following, in a clockwise direction, the seaward limit of the highest areas, shown as awash on the edition of Admiralty Chart 334 dated 26th June 1997, of the main reef surrounding the area of deeper water to the west and north of the main group of islands of Bermuda.”.

Explanatory Note
(This note is not part of the Order)
The Order amends article 3(3) of the Bermuda (Territorial Sea) Order in Council 1988 by redefining the geographical co-ordinates of a point on the coast inshore of Hogfish Cut and a point on the coast inshore of Town Cut, following the publication on 26th June 1997 of a new edition of Admiralty Chart 334. Admiralty Chart 334 may be obtained from Admiralty Chart agents world-wide, details of which may be obtained from the United Kingdom Hydrographic Office, Taunton, TA1 2DN.
