The A4 Trunk Road (Great West Road, Hounslow) Red Route (Prescribed Routes) Traffic Order 1997

The Traffic Director for London, in accordance with a direction given to him by the Secretary of State for Transport under section 58(1) of the Road Traffic Act 1991(1) and in exercise of the powers conferred on the Secretary of State by section 6 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984(2), and of all other enabling powers, hereby makes the following Order:–

Commencement and citation

1.  This Order may be cited as The A4 Trunk Road (Great West Road, Hounslow) Red Route (Prescribed Routes) Traffic Order 1997, and shall come into force on 25th January 1997.

Interpretation

2.  In this Order–

(a)causing includes permitting, and cause shall be construed accordingly;

(b)a reference to an article followed by a number is a reference to the article of this Order so numbered;

(c)“the Lampton Road island” means the triangular island site situated at the south west corner of the junction of A4 Great West Road and Lampton Road in the London Borough of Hounslow.

Prescribed Routes and Prohibitive Turns

3.  Subject to the provisions of article 4–

(a)any person causing a vehicle to proceed northwards on the east of the Lampton Road island shall not cause that vehicle to continue in any direction other than ahead;

(b)any person causing a vehicle to proceed northwards on the west of the Lampton Road island shall not cause that vehicle to continue in any direction other than left;

(c)any person causing a vehicle to proceed westwards on the Great West Road on reaching the junction with Lampton Road and Heston Road shall not cause that vehicle to continue in any direction other than ahead.

Exemptions

4.  Nothing in Article 3 of this Order shall apply–

(a)to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or a traffic warden; or

(b)to a vehicle being used for fire brigade, ambulance or police purposes.
