The A1 Trunk Road (Islington)(Bus Lanes) Red Route Experimental 1996

The Traffic Director for London, in accordance with a direction given to him by the Secretary of State for Transport under section 58(1) of the Road Traffic Act 1991(1) and in exercise of the powers conferred on the Secretary of State by sections 9 and 10 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984(2), and of a ll other enabling powers, hereby makes the following Order:

1.  This Order may be cited as the A1 Trunk Road (Islington) (Bus Lanes) Red Route Experimental Order 1996, and shall come into force on 15th March 1996.

2.  The A1 Trunk Road (Islington) Red Route (Bus Lanes) Traffic 1993(3) as amended by the A1 Trunk Road (Islington) (Bus Lanes) Red Route Traffic Order 1993 Variation Order 1994 shall have effect as if:—

(a)in article 2, after definition of “Schedule”, there were inserted the following definition—

““vehicle” includes part of a vehicle”

(b)in article 5, for the words “enter or to proceed” there were substituted the word “be”; and,

(c)in article 8, after paragraph (3) there were inserted the following paragraph—

“(4) Nothing in article 5 shall apply so as to prevent a vehicle being in the bus lane so long as may be necessary—

(i)to enable a person to board or alight from the vehicle; or

(ii)to enable goods to be loaded onto or be unloaded from the vehicle;

if and in so far as the activity is not prohibited by provisions other than the provision of this order.”
