In exercise of powers conferred by section 14 of the Health Service Commissioners (Amendment) Act 1996(1) and of all other powers enabling me in that behalf, I hereby make the following Order:

Citation and interpretation

1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Health Service Commissioners (Amendment) Act 1996 (Commencement) Order 1996.

(2) In this Order, “the Act” means the Health Service Commissioners (Amendment) Act 1996.

Coming into force of the Act

2.—(1) The Act shall come into force on 1st April 1996.

(2) Sections 2(2), 4(2) and 6(1) of the Act shall apply in relation to—

(a)action beginning on or after 1st April 1996;

(b)action beginning before that date if it can reasonably be said that part of the same action occurs on or after that date.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order brings into force the whole of the Health Service Commissioners (Amendment) Act 1996 (“the Act”) on 1st April 1996. The Order also brings certain actions, begun before 1st April 1996 and continuing after that date, within the scope of the Health Service Commissioners Act 1993 as amended by the Act.
