SEX DISCRIMINATION
The Sex Discrimination (Geoffrey Simpson Bequest Modification) Order 1996

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 79 of the Sex Discrimination Act 1975(1) and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf–

(a)
being satisfied on the application of Borders Regional Council(2) as the governing body of the educational endowment described in article 2 below that the modification of a provision which restricts the benefit of the endowment to persons of one sex would conduce to the advancement of education without sex discrimination; and

(b)
having published a notice under section 79(3) of the said Act and having received no representations duly made in accordance with that notice;

hereby makes the following Order:

1.  This Order may be cited as the Sex Discrimination (Geoffrey Simpson Bequest Modification) Order 1996 and shall come into force on 1st August 1996.

2.  The educational endowment constituted by clause (Three) of the Settlement of Geoffrey Simpson dated 16th October 1981 and registered in the Books of Council and Session on 17th August 1982 shall be modified by substituting in the said clause (Three) for the words “in each alternate year for the benefit and behoof of the Head Boy and Head Girl of the said School alternately” the words “in each year in equal shares for the benefit and behoof of the Head Boy and Head Girl of the said School”.
