CHAPTER 67:52

CONTROL OF IMPORTATION OF LIVE FISH ACT

An Act to control the importation into Trinidad and Tobago
of live fish.

[23RD NOVEMBER 1950]

1. This Act may be cited as the Control of Importation of
Live Fish Act.

2. (1) No person shall, without the consent by Notification
of the Minister, import into Trinidad and Tobago any live fish other
than live fish indigenous to Trinidad and Tobago.

(2) Any person contravening the provisions of this section
is liable on summary conviction to a fine of four hundred dollars.

3. Any officer of Customs finding any live fish other than
live fish indigenous to Trinidad and Tobago among any goods
or baggage entering Trinidad and Tobago shall, if the consent
of the Minister for the importation of the same has not been
obtained, forthwith seize the live fish and destroy or cause the
same to be destroyed.

SUBSIDIARY LEGISLATION

IMPORTATION OF ORNAMENTAL FISH NOTIFICATION

made under section 2

Consent has been given for the importation into Trinidad
and Tobago of ornamental fish for aquarium use except—

the Carp (Cyprinus carpio) and its gold variety (Japanese
“Higoi”);

the Goldfish (Carassius auratus) and all its varieties;
the “Prussian Carp” (Carassius carassius);
the “Pirai” (Serrosalmo niger) and allied species;
the “Basses” (Micropterus dolomieu and Micropterus

salmoides).
