FISHERIES RESOURCES (JURISDICTION AND CONSERVATION) (DECLARATION OF

PROTECTED AREAS) (THE EXUMA (JEWFISH CAY) MARINE RESERVE) ORDER

(SECTION 13) [Commencement – 11th December 2009]

1. This Order may be cited as the Fisheries Resources (Jurisdiction and Conservation) (Declaration of Protected Areas) (The Exuma (Jewfish Cay) Marine Reserve) Order.

2. The Exuma (Jewfish Cay) Marine Reserve and its surrounding waters as described in the Schedule is hereby declared to be a protected area.

3. No person shall fish or remove any fishery resource from the protected area outlined in paragraph 2 except with the written permission of the Minister for educational, research and scientific purposes.

SCHEDULE

A description of the Exuma (Jewfish Cay) Marine Reserve and its surrounding waters. The Exuma (Jewfish Cay) Marine Reserve includes waters west of Great Exuma. The boundary of the marine reserve is created by a line that joins the following four geographic coordinates:

1. Northwest point 23° 30.600'N and 75° 57.194'W, approximately 3.14 miles from the northernmost point of Jewfish Cay on a bearing of 350.51°,

2. Northeast point 23° 30.600'N and 75° 47.958'W, approximately 9.75 miles from the northernmost point of Jewfish Cay on a bearing of 71.29°,

3. Southeast point 23° 25.409'N and 75° 47.823'W or, 9.79 miles from the northernmost point of Jewfish Cay on a bearing of 106.86°,

4. Southwest point 23° 25.544'N and 75° 57.194'W or, 2.74 miles from the northernmost point of Jewfish Cay on a bearing of 190.90°,

where the northernmost point of Jewfish Cay is taken as located at coordinates 23° 27.889'N and 75° 56.700'W.
