FISHERIES RESOURCES (JURISDICTION AND CONSERVATION) (DECLARATION OF

PROTECTED AREAS) (SOUTH BERRY ISLANDS MARINE RESERVE) ORDER

(SECTION 13) [Commencement – 11th December 2009]

1. This Order may be cited as the Fisheries Resources (Jurisdiction and Conservation) (Declaration of Protected Areas) (South Berry Islands Marine Reserve) Order.

2. The South Berry Islands Marine Reserve and its surrounding waters as described in the Schedule is hereby declared to be a protected area.

3. No person shall fish or remove any fishery resource from the protected area outlined in paragraph 2 except with the written permission of the Minister for educational, research and scientific purposes.

SCHEDULE

A description of the South Berry Islands Marine Reserve and its surrounding waters. The South Berry Islands Marine Reserve includes the waters surrounding Crab Cay, Chub Cay, Bird Cay, Cat Cay, Vigilant Cay, Diamond Rock, Frazer's Hog Cay and Whale Cay. The boundary of the marine reserve is created by lines joining the following five geographic coordinates:

1. Northwest point 25° 25.446'N and 77° 54.807'W, approximately 5.45 miles from the western point of Bird Cay on a bearing of 295.24°,

2. North-northwest point 25° 26.626'N and 77° 50.504'W, approximately 3.69 miles from the western point of Bird Cay on a bearing of 352.87°,

3. Northeast point 25° 26.730'N and 77° 41.998'W approximately 9.21 miles from the western point of Bird Cay on a bearing of 65.57°,

4. Southeast point 25° 21.029'N and 77° 41.871 'W, approximately 8.96 miles from the western point of Bird Cay on a bearing of 107.93°,

5. Southwest point 25° 20.842'N and 77° 54.666'W, approximately 5.64 miles from the western point of Bird Cay on a bearing of 238.17°,

where the western point of Bird Cay is taken as located at coordinates 25° 23.427'N and 77° 50.061 'W.
