| AN ACT TO AMEND THE NAVY ACT | | |

| BE it enacted by the Parliament of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka as follows :- | |

Short title.
| 1. This Act may be cited as the Navy (Amendment) Act, No. 53 of 1999. | Amendment of section 28 of chapter 358.
| 2. Section 28 of the Navy Act, as amended by Act, No. 11 of 1993, is hereby amended, in subsection (1) of that section, by the substitution, for the words. ''the rank of Lieutenant" of the words "the rank of Lieutenant Commander". | Sinhala text to prevail in case of inconsistency.
| 3. In the event of any inconsistency between the Sinhala and Tamil texts of this Act, the Sinhala text shall prevail. | |
