PRE-UNION STATUTE LAW REVISION ACT, 1970.
ACT To repeal certain laws In force In the various provinces of the
· Republic and to provide for lnddental matters.
(English text signed by the State President.) (Assented to 20th August, 1970.)
BE IT ENACIED by the State President, the Senate and the House of Assembly of the Republic of South Mrica, as
follows:-

1. The laws specified in the Schedule, as well as sections 3, Repeal of laW!. 4 (b), 5, 6 and 7 of the Pretoria Municipal Ordinance, 1906 (Ordinance No. I (Private) of 1906, of the Transvaal), are hereby repeated;
2. The repeal of any law by this Act shall not- Savin (a) revive anything not in force or existing at the time at gs. · which the repeal takes effect; (b) affect the previous operation of any law so repealed or
anything duly done or suffered under the law so repealed; .
(c) affect any right.. privilege, obligation, liability or indemnity acquired, accrued, incurred or granted under any law so repealed;
(d) affect any penalty, forfeiture or punishment incurred in respect of any offence committed against any law so repealed; .
(e) affect any investigation, legal proceeding or remedy in respect of any right, ·privilege, obligation, liability, forfeiture or punishment referred to in this section,
and any such investigation, legal proceeding or remedy may be instituted, continued or enforced, and any such penalty, forfeiture or punishment may be imposed or ordered, as if this Act had not been passed.
· 3. This Act shall be called the Pre-Union Statute Law Short title. Revision Act, 1970.

'NATAL.
Title or Subject of Law.
To secure Freedom of Speech and Debates or Proceedings in the Legislative Council, and to give summary protection to persons employed in the publication of its papers.
To declare that the Laws of Natal shall take effect in the newly annexed Territory ceded by Faku.
To provide for the performance of certain duties of the Speaker of the Legislative Council during his temporary absence from
·the Legislative Council.
For the support of the office of Speaker of the Legislative Coun- cil of Natal, and for rendering the office more permanent, in accordance with the custom, usage, and law of Great Britain and Ireland therein provided, and for providing for the ap- pointment of other officers attached to the said Council.
The Governor's Salary Law of 1873.
To amend the Laws relating to Customs Duties, so far as to admit free of duty the Uniforms of Officers serving in the Transvaal.
To Amend the Constitution of Natal.
To make provision for Daily Travelling Allowance to certain Members of the Legislative Council.
To provide for the due interment of SerVantS dying whilst in service, within the limits of any Borough constituted under the Law No. 19 1872.
To amend the Second Section of Law No. 19, 1887, entituled Law "To make provision for daily travelling allowance to certain members of the Legislative Council".
To facilitate the Registration of Bantu Servants and Servants belonging to Uncivilised Races within the Boroughs of Pietermaritzburg and Durban.
To enable the Ladysmith Local Board to borrow a sum not exceeding £25,000 for the purpose of supplying the Township of Ladysmith with water from the Klip River, to construct the necessary works for such purpose, to levy a Water Rate. and to prevent the pollution of ":Vater.
Constitution Act of 1893.
To remove doubts as to the construCtion of Letters Patent of 20th July, 1893, and the Constitution Act of 1893.
To amend Law No.8, 1889, entituled "Law to amend Ordinance No. 6, 18551 entituled 'Ordinance for the general management and regulation of the Customs in the District of Natal'", and the Customs Duties and Transit Dues Law, 1886. ·

To remove the Servitude existing upon the Land known as "Public Park of Outspan No. 4 of the Town Lands of Pietermaritzburg".
