It is hereby notified that the State President has assented to the following Act which is hereby published for general information:-

ACT To amend the South African Tourist Corporation Act, 1947, so as
to make further provision for the collection and supply of data in connection with tourist industries;
(Afrikaans text signed by the State President.) (Assented to 10 March 1986.)
BE IT ENACTED by the State President and the Parliament of the Republic of South Africa, as follows:-
1. Section 9 of the South African Tourist Corporation Act, 1947, is hereby amended by the substitution for paragraph (e) of
5 subsection (1) of the following paragraph: · "(e) [engage in the systematic collection in the Republic and
elsewhere, of information] collect such information and obtain such statistics, in the Republic and elsewhere as the board may deem necessary or as may be prescribed
10 by the Minister under section 16, relating to the tourist industry in general and to national tourist industries, in particular that of the Republic, and to disseminate such information;".
2. Section 16 of the South African Tourist Corporation Act, 15 1947, is hereby amended by the insertion after paragraph (b) of
the following paragraph: " c the ersons en a ed in an tourist industr who rna be
called upon by the board to furnish to the board infor- mation and statistics mentioned in section 9 (1) (e), the
20 manner in which and the period within which such in- formation and statistics shall be so supplied, and the penalties, not exceeding a fine of R500 or a period of imprisonment of three months, which may be imposed in respect of a failure to supply, or to supply timeously,
25 such information or statistics;".
3. This Act shall be called the South African Tourist Corpor- ation Amendment Act, 1986, and shall come into operation on a date fixed by the State .President by proclamation in the Gazette.
Amendment of section 9 of Act 54 of 1957, as amended by section 2 of Act 40 of 1960, section I of Act 39 of 1964, section 38 of Act 70 of 1965, section 1 of Act 59 of 1977 and section 15 of Act 100 of 1983.
Amendment of section 16 of Act 54 of 1947, as amended by section 2 of Act 39 of 1964 and section 15 of Act lOll of 1983.
Short title and commencement.
