PROCLAMATION NO. 611
DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM JULY 22 TO 29, 1990, AS “PHILIPPINE NATIONAL DRINKING WATER CONSCIOUSNESS WEEK”
WHEREAS, the government has a multi- pronged system for delivery of drinking water through its instrumentalities, such as the Department of Public Works and Highways, the Local Water Utilities Administration, the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System and the Department of Local Government;
WHEREAS, in this undertaking non-governmental organizations and associations like the Philippine Waterworks Association, Inc., and the Philippine Association of Water Districts are actively assisting and participating;
WHEREAS, on the 26th to the 28th of July 1990, the Philippine Water Congress and Exhibition will be held under the joint auspices of the Philippine Water Works Association (PWWA), the Philippine Association of Water Districts (PAWD), and the Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA) on the theme “Water Crises, Everybody’s Concern”.
WHEREAS, on this occasion it is but fitting to highlight, focus on and recognize the joint efforts of the government and the private sectors to provide safe and adequate water supply to all people;
WHEREAS, it behooves every citizen to be conscious of their existing and important roles and participation in the proper use and conservation of water, proper operation and maintenance of water facilities, and the protection and preservation of our natural water resources and watersheds;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the period from July 22 to July 29, 1990, as “Philippine National Drinking Water Consciousness Week” under the joint auspices of the Philippine Water Works Association, Inc., the Philippine Association of Water Districts and the Local Water Utilities Administration.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
