PROCLAMATION NO. 242

DECLARING FEBRUARY 25, 2000, FRIDAY

AS A SPECIAL NATIONAL HOLIDAY

WHEREAS, Friday, February 25, 2000, marks the 14th anniversary of the February 22-25, 1986 EDSA People Power Revolution;

WHEREAS, the EDSA People Power Revolution restored our democratic institutions and ushered in meaningful political, social and economic reforms in the country;

WHEREAS, it is fitting that the people of the Republic of the Philippines be given full opportunity to honor the memory of the EDSA People Power Revolution with appropriate ceremonies;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOSEPH EJERCITO ESTRADA, President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me Book I, Chapter 7, Section 27 of the Administrative Code of 1987, do hereby declare Friday, February 25, 2000, as a special national holiday.

IN WITNESS HEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.

Done in the City of Manila, this 8th day of Feb., in the year of Our Lord, two thousand.
