PROCLAMATION NO. 870

DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM SEPTEMBER 19 TO 25, 2005 AS “PRINTING INDUSTRY WEEK”

WHEREAS, the Government recognizes the significant role of the printing industry in the recording, preserving and disseminating of knowledge and information;

WHEREAS, the continued emergence of cutting edge technologies and the increasing competitiveness of the global printing market is an ever present challenge to the industry;

WHEREAS, there is a need to continually promote and encourage the competitiveness of our own printing industry in the face of globalization;

WHEREAS, the Printing Industries Association of the Philippines, Inc. will hold its 12th National Printers Convention on September 21-24, 2005 with the theme “Overcoming the Challenges of a Competitive Business”;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the period from September 19-25, 2005, as “Printing Industry Week” under the auspices of the Printing Industries Association of the Philippines, Inc..

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
