PROCLAMATION NO. 1908

DECLARING MONDAY, OCTOBER 12, 2009, AS SPECIAL WORKING DAY IN QUEZON CITY

WHEREAS, on October 12, 1939, then President Manuel L. Quezon signed into law Commonwealth Act No. 502 establishing Quezon City;

WHEREAS, for the past seventy (70) years, Quezon City has dramatically developed and grown into a progressive urban center of government, trade, commerce, industry, education, health and information technology;

WHEREAS, Quezon City is an inspiring example of effective local governance, financial maturity and dynamism, and balanced environmental management;

WHEREAS, Monday, October 12, 2009, marks the 70th Foundation Day anniversary of Quezon City;

WHEREAS, the Office of the Mayor requested that Monday, October 12, 2009 be declared as special working day instead of a non-working day.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, EDUARDO R. ERMITA, Executive Secretary, by authority of Her Excellency, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, do hereby declare Monday, October 12, 2009, as special working day in Quezon City.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.

Done in the City of Manila, this 7th day of October, in the year of Our Lord, Two Thousand and Nine.
