EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 844

PLACING THE COUNCIL OF INTERFAITH INITIATIVES UNDER THE NATIONAL SECURITY COUNCIL

WHEREAS, Executive Order (EO) no. 626, s. 2007 created the National Committee on Interfaith Cooperation (NCIC) to consolidate, rationalize and ensure the consistency of the country’s policies and position in various interfaith initiatives and for a in and outside the country;

WHEREAS, EO No. 714, s. 2008 renamed the NCIC as the Council of Interfaith Initiatives (CII);

WHEREAS, interfaith dialogue is an integral component of the paradigm for peace and security of the Arroyo administration;

WHEREAS, the President of the Philippines is the Chair of the National Security Council;

NOW THEREFORE I, GLORIA M. ARROYO, President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me my law, do hereby order:

SECTION 1. The Council of Interfaith Initiatives (CII) shall be placed under the oversight of the National Security Council;

SECTION 2. The National Security Adviser shall be the Vice-Chair of the CII;

SECTION 3. All issuances inconsistent with this order are hereby repealed or amended accordingly.

SECTION 4. This Executive Order shall take effect immediately.

DONE in the City of Manila, this 6th day of November in the Year of Our Lord, Two Thousand and Nine.
