BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE PHILIPPINES

PROCLAMATION NO. 2054

PROCLAIMING THE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER 2010 AND SEPTEMBER OF THE   SUCCEEDING   YEARS   THEREAFTER   AS   “CYBERSECURITY AWARENESS MONTH”

WHEREAS, our country and its economy is not immune to cyber attacks particularly against its critical information systems and information structure;

WHEREAS, there is a real need to reinforce efforts to address strategic policy dimensions of cybersecurity and develop a national cyber defense capability;

WHEREAS, there is also a need to create public awareness through intensified campaign showcasing Cybersecurity information;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare September of every year as the “Cybersecurity Awareness Month” and do hereby encourage all government agencies, bureaus and offices, including government-owned and/or controlled corporations (GOCCs) and their subsidiaries/units, state universities and colleges (SUCs) to actively participate in the observance of this event and to give full recognition to the vital significance of cybersecurity information.

Local government units are likewise encouraged to participate in the celebration and activities.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed hereto.
