ALL GOVERNORS, CITY MAYORS, MUNICIPAL MAYORS, DILG REGIONAL DIRECTORS AND OTHERS CONCERNED

SUBJECT       :
OBSERVANCE OF THE INTERNATIONAL DAY AGAINST DRUG ABUSE AND ILLICIT TRAFFICKING ON JUNE 26, 2010

Pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 264, s. 1998, and in support to the Resolution passed by the United Nations General Assembly on December 07, 1987, the 26th day of June of every year has been declared as the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (IDADAIT).

This year’s event will be observed simultaneously by all members-countries of the United Nations Organization, with the theme, “THINK HEALTH- NOT DRUGS”.

Relative to the above, all Local Chief Executives are enjoined to put up streamers in conspicuous places and come up with appropriate activities that are geared towards increasing public awareness on the deleterious effects of drug abuse and  the value of a healthy lifestyle.

All DILG Regional Directors are likewise directed to cause the immediate and widest dissemination of this Memorandum Circular to all local government units within their regional assignments, and to submit a Report on LGU compliance to this Circular, to the Office of the Secretary, Attention: The Director, Bureau of Local Government Supervision.
