MEMORANDUM CIRCULAR

11TH INTERNATIONAL YOUTH DAY (IYD) CONVENTION

The United Nations Association of the Philippines (UNAP), through its youth arm, the United Nations Youth Association of the Philippines (UNYAP), will hold the 11th International Youth Day Convention on August 10-12, 2010 at the Philippine International Convention Center, Manila, Philippines with the theme “Strengthening Peace and Human Rights Education for the Youth: Key to Sustainable National Development.”

The activity aims to increase the participants’ awareness on peace an human rights education practices, issues, challenges, and future directions in the country and the world; increase the participation of the youth sector in the fulfillment of the UN Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) using peace and human rights perspectives; and to equip the youth with the necessary skills as they embark on dynamic programs regarding peace and human rights education in their respective localities.

 In view of the above, all local chief executives and/or presiding officer of the local sanggunian hereby encouraged to send their Sanggunian Kabataan (SK) Federation Presidents and SK Chairman as delegates to the abovementioned convention. They may also sponsor the participation of student and other youth leaders within their jurisdiction. Payment of registration fee of Four Thousand Pesos (Php 4,000.00) per participant to cover the expenses for the venue, food, accommodation and convention materials is authorized, chargeable against local funds, subject to the availability thereof and the usual accounting and auditing rules and regulations.
