PROCLAMATION NO. 10

DECLARING THURSDAY, AUGUST 5, 2010, AS SPECIAL (NON-WORKING) DAY IN THE WHOLE SAMAR ISLAND

WHEREAS, Thursday, August 5, 2010, marks the 120th birth anniversary of the late Jose Avelino;

WHEREAS, Jose Avelino, former Senate President and was known as the “Father of the Philippine Workmen’s Compensation Law”;

WHEREAS, it is but fitting and proper that the people of the whole Samar Island be given full opportunity to celebrate the occasion with appropriate ceremonies.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, PAQUITO N. OCHOA, JR., Executive Secretary, by authority of His Excellency, BENIGNO S. AQUINO III, do hereby declare Thursday, August 5, 2010, as special (non-working) day in the whole Samar Island.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.

Done in the City of Manila, this 4th day of August, in the year of Our Lord, Two Thousand and Ten.
