PROMULGATION OF ACT OF PARLIAMENT

The following Act which has been passed by the Parliament and signed by the President in terms of the Namibian Constitution is hereby published in terms of Article 56 of that Constitution.

Act No.2, 2010 PRISONS AMENDMENT ACT, 2010

ACT

To amend the Prisons Act, 1998, so as to empower the Minister to amend the First Schedule to that Act and to substitute the First Schedule to that Act.

BE IT ENACTED by the Parliament of the Republic of Namibia as follows:

Insertion of section 7A in Act 17 of 1998

1. The following section is inserted after section 7 of the Prisons Act, 1998 (hereafter referred to as the principal Act):

"Amendment of the First Schedule

7A. The Minister may by notice in the Gazette amend the First Schedule to this Act.

Substitution of the First Schedule of Act 17 of 1998

2. The following schedule is substituted for the First Schedule of the principal Act:

"FIRST SCHEDULE

Senior Prison Members: Deputy Commissioner of Prisons Senior Assistant Commissioner Assistant Commissioner Chief Superintendent Superintendent

Junior Prison Members: Senior Chief Correctional Officer Chief Correctional Officer Senior Correctional Officer Correctional Officer II Correctional Officer I".

Short title

3. This Act is called the Prisons Amendment Act, 2010.
