GAHLOT RAJPUT FOUNDATION ACT

1. Short title

This Act may be cited as the Gahlot Rajput Foundation Act.

2. Interpretation

In this Act—

“Board” means the Board referred to in section 5;

“Chairperson” means the Chairperson of the Board;

“Foundation” means the Gahlot Rajput Foundation established under section 3;

“member” means a member of the Board and includes the Chairperson.

3. Establishment of Foundation

(1) There is established for the purposes of this Act the Gahlot Rajput Foundation.

(2) The Foundation shall be a body corporate.

4. Objects of Foundation

The objects of the Foundation shall be to—

(a) disseminate the Vedic Dharma (Vedic religion);

(b) establish, manage and maintain temples and charitable, educa- tional and cultural institutions; and

(c) carry out other charitable activities.

5. The Board

(1) Subject to subsection (2), the Foundation shall be managed by a Board which shall be constituted in such manner as may be prescribed.

(2) —

(3) No member shall receive any fee or remuneration for his services.

(4) The Board shall regulate its meetings and proceedings in such manner as may be prescribed.

6. Execution of documents

No document shall be executed by or on behalf of the Foundation unless it is signed by the Chairperson and one other member.

7. Donations

Article 910 of the Code Civil Mauricien shall not apply to the Foundation.

8. Exemptions

Notwithstanding any other enactment—

(a) the Foundation shall be exempt from payment of any duty, rate, charge, fee or tax; and

(b) no stamp duty or registration fee shall be payable in respect of any document under which the Foundation is the sole beneficiary.

9. Dissolution

(1) The Foundation may, on the unanimous decision of the Board, be dis- solved in such manner as may be prescribed.

(2) Where the Foundation is dissolved, all assets remaining after winding up shall be transferred to the Gahlot Rajput Maha Sabha.

10. Regulations

(1) The Board may make such regulations as it thinks fit for the purposes of this Act.

(2) Notwithstanding the Interpretation and General Clauses Act, regula- tions made under subsection (1) shall not be—

(a) approved by the Minister;

(b) laid before the Assembly; or

(c) published in the Gazette.
