RESOLUTION
 
ON THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE YEAR OF EDUCATION
THROUGH SPORT 2004 IN LITHUANIA

Invoking Decision No 291/2003/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 6 February 2003 establishing the European Year of Education through Sport 2004, and the appeal of the Commission of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania on Youth and Sport Affairs, the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania r e s o l v e s:
Article 1.
The year 2004 shall be designated a "Year of Education through Sport in Lithuania".
 
Article 2.
To establish that in the Year of Education through Sport cooperation between educational institutions and sports organizations would be strengthened, the quality of non-formal education would be improved by means of physical education, the values and social abilities of young people would be developed through sport.
 
Article 3.
To propose to the Department of Physical Education and Sports under the Government of the Republic of Lithuania in conjunction with the Ministry of Education and Science and non-governmental organizations to set up a Coordinating Committee for the Year of Education through Sport and to obligate it to draw up an action plan for the Year of Education through Sport in Lithuania, and to set aside funds for the implementation of this plan.
 
Article 4.
To recommend to municipal educational institutions and sports organizations of cities and regions together with non-governmental organizations and public information producers and disseminators to implement an action plan for the Year of Education through Sport in Lithuania.
 
Article 5.
The Resolution shall enter into force on the day of its adoption.
