ON THE RATIFICATION OF THE INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION

FOR THE PROTECTION OF ALL PERSONS

FROM ENFORCED DISAPPEARANCE

Article 1. Ratification of the Convention

The Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania, acting pursuant to Article 67(16) and Article 138(1)(6) of the Constitution of the Republic of Lithuania and having regard to Decree No 1K-1313 of the President of the Republic of 17 December 2012, ratifies with declarations the International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance signed on 6 February 2007 in Paris.

 

Article 2. Declarations of the Republic of Lithuania

1. The Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania, acting pursuant to Article 31 of the Convention, declares that the Republic of Lithuania recognizes the competence of the Committee on Enforced Disappearances to receive and consider communications from or on behalf of individuals subject to the jurisdiction of the Republic of Lithuania claiming to be victims of a violation by the Republic of Lithuania of provisions of this Convention.

2. The Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania, acting pursuant to Article 32 of the Convention, declares that the Republic of Lithuania recognizes the competence of the Committee on Enforced Disappearances to receive and consider communications in which a State Party to this Convention claims that the Republic of Lithuania is not fulfilling its obligations under this Convention.

 

I promulgate this Law passed by the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania.
