Weights and Measures (Abbreviation of Units of Measurement) (Jersey) Order 1975

THE ENVIRONMENT AND PUBLIC SERVICES COMMITTEE, in pursuance of Article 13 of the Weights and Measures (Jersey) Law 1967,[1] orders as follows –

Each of the units of measurement set out in Column 1 of Parts 1 and 2 of the Schedule may be used for trade in the abbreviated form set out opposite thereto in Column 2 or Column 3 of Part 1 or Column 2 of Part 2 of that Schedule and, subject to Article 2, no other abbreviation of, or symbol for, any such unit of measurement shall be used.

(1)    The letter “s” may be added to the abbreviations of units of measurement set out in Column 3 of Part 1 and Column 2 of Part 2 of the Schedule to denote the plural.

(2)    Article 1 shall not apply to the use for trade of symbols for, and abbreviations of, units of measurement for the purpose of marking weighing and measuring equipment.

This Order may be cited as the Weights and Measures (Abbreviation of Units of Measurement) (Jersey) Order 1975.
