THE LABOUR OFFICERS (POWERS) ACT

129th April, 1943.1

1. This Act may be cited as the Labour Officers (Powers) Short title.
Act.

2. In this Act- Interpreta- tion.
“Labour Officer” means any public officer authorized in :!$:;,6

writing by the Minister to exercise the powers con-
ferred on a Labour Officer by this Act;

“enactment” includes any rules or regulations made under
any enactment.

3. A Labour Officer may at all reasonable times enter Powers of a
Labour upon any premises, other than a dwelling-house, for the olficpr.

purpose of carrying out any inspection or inquiry which
he may consider desirable for ensuring the proper observ-
ance of any enactment which is, or hereafter may be,

4. The Minister may from time to time by order amend Power of

only under a warrant granted by a court.

pedty for 6. Any person who obstructs or impedes a Labour Officer
in the exercise of any of his powers under this Act shall be
guilty of an offence, and on summary conviction thereof
before a Resident Magistrate, shall be liable to a fine not
exceeding one hundred dollars and in default of payment
to imprisonment with or without hard labour for a term
not exceeding three months.
