THE JAMAICA COMBINED CADET FORCE ACT

[23rd January, 1948.1

1. This Act may be cited as the Jamaica Combined Cadet Short title.

2. In this Act- Intcrpre-
tntioo. “cadet commission” means a commission granted by the

Governor-General under section 6 and carrying rank
and precedence only within the Cadet Force; and

“Cadet Force” means the Jamaica Combined Cadet Force 39/1%6
constituted under section 3. S. 2(b).

3.-(1) There is hereby constituted a cadet training force Constitution
of Force.

to be known as the Jamaica Combined Cadet Force.

(2) The Cadet Force shall be under the command of
a Commandant who shall be appointed by the Governor-
General.

4. The Governor-General shall appoint a committee to Constitution of Jamaica be known as the Jamaica Cadet Committee whose function Cadet
it shall be to exercise a general control and superintendence
over the Cadet Force in matters affecting policy, finance
and training facilities.

5. The Cadet Force shall be composed of such Head- Composition of Cadet quarters Staff, companies, platoons, sections or other units F ~ ~ ~ .

6.-(1) The Governor-General may, upon the recommen-
dation of the Commandant, grant cadet commissions con-
ferring such. rank u.pon officers of the Cadet Force @ ,he
may tgink fit.

(2) The Governor-General 1 I . may, upon the recommen-
dalion of ‘thb Gsmmandant, approve of the promotion of
any cadet officer to any higher rank than that conferred
upon him.by his cadet commission. ’ ’

R”l& 7,-(1) The Commandant may, with the approval of the
.. Jamaica Cadet Committee, make rules for the better carry-
’ ing out of the provisions of this Act.

’,’ (2) Rules made~undet his section may, without pre-
judice b t h e generality of the provisions of subsection (l),
provide-

(a) for the discipline and training of members of the
Cadet Force;

(b) for the rank, precedence, promotion and command
h e r se of cadet under-officers;

(c) for the uniform, insignia and badges to be worn
.. . by members of the Cadet Force;

(cc) for medals, badges and other awards to members
of the Cadet Force for such services or acts, and
on such conditions, as may be prescribed; and

(d) for the constitution, organization and strength of
units of the Cadet Force.

Special &-(U The Army and Air Cadet Force, in this section

former provisions of the Army and Air Cadet Force (Defence)

Regulations,, 1944, shall for all purposes be deemed to, be
the Force constituted under this Act,

(2) The persons who immediately before the com-
mencement of this Act are .members of the Jamaica Cadet

Cadet Force.

IAMAlCA COMBINED CADET FORCE

Committee constituted under the Army and Air Cadet
Force (Defence) Regulations, 1944, shall constitute the
Jamaica Cadet Committee referred to in section 4 and shall
for all purposes be deemed to have been validly appointed
to such Committee.

(3) The person who immediately before the com-
mencement of this Act held the office of Commandant of
the former Force shall be deemed to have been validly
appointed to the office of Commandant of the Force
constituted under this Act.

(4) All persons who immediately before the com-
mencement of this Act held commissions in the former
Force shall be deemed to have been validly commissioned in
the Force constituted under this Act in the same rank
which they held in the former Force immediately prior to
the commencement of this Act.

(5 ) All Rules made by the Commandant of the
former Force with the approval of the Jamaica Cadet
Committee constituted under the Army and Air Cadet
Force (Defence) Regulations, 1944, shall be deemed to have
been made under the provisions of section 7 and shall
apply to the Force constituted under this Act as they apply
to the former Force.
