AN ACT
to amend the Bankruptcy Code 1892, the Preferential Payments Act
1908, the Arrest of Goods Act 1954 and the Recovery of Rent Act 1954 so as to
increase the maximum value of certain goods which may not be taken from a
bankrupt or an execution debtor for the benefit of his creditors and also to
increase the maximum amount of salary or wages which certain employees are
entitled to be paid in preference to certain other creditors.

3 Amendment of sections 3 and 11 of the Action of Arrest Act 1953

(1) [Amends section 3 of the Action of Arrest Act 1953.]

6 Short title and citation

(1) This Act may be cited as the Preferential Payments and Other Acts
(Financial Adjustments) Act 1973.
(2) This Act —

(b) so far as it relates to the Preferential Payments Act 1908 shall be
construed as one with that Act and may be cited together with
that Act as the Preferential Payments Acts 1908 to 1973;
(c) so far as it relates to the Action of Arrest Act 1953 shall be
construed as one with that Act and may be cited together with
that Act as the Action of Arrests Acts 1953 to 1973;
(d) [Repealed]7

(e) so far as it relates to the Recovery of Rent Act 1954 shall be
construed as one with that Act and may be cited together with
that Act as the Recovery of Rents Acts 1954 to 1973.
7 Commencement

This Act shall come into operation when the Royal Assent thereto has been by
the Governor announced to Tynwald and a certificate thereof has been signed
by the Governor and the Speaker of the House of Keys.
