AN ACT
to raise the limit on the interest in the shares of a society registered
under the Industrial and Building Societies Act, 1892, and nominated sums.
1 Interpretation

In this Act the expression “principal Act”
means the Industrial and Building
Societies Act, 1892.

5 Lien on Shares

A Registered Society shall have a lien on the shares of any member for any debt
due to it by him, and may set off any sum credited to the member thereon in or
towards the payment of such debt.
6 [Repealed]

7 Short title

This Act may be cited as the Industrial and Building Societies Act, 1953, and
shall be construed as one with the Industrial and Building Societies Acts, 1892 to
1948, and those Acts and this Act may be together cited as the Industrial and
Building Societies Acts, 1892 to 1953.
8 Commencement

This Act shall come into operation when the Royal Assent thereto has been by
the Governor announced to Tynwald and a Certificate thereof has been signed
by the Governor and the Speaker of the House of Keys.
