S.I. No. 280/2000 - Wildlife (Wild Birds) (Open Seasons) (Amendment) Order, 2000.
I, Sile De Valera, Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by Sections 8 (2) of the Wildlife Act, 1976 (No. 39 of 1976), and the Heritage (Transfer of Departmental, Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order, 1994 ( S.I. No. 443 of 1994 ) (as adapted by the Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1997 ( S.I. No. 306 of 1997 )), hereby order as follows:
1. This Order may be cited as the Wildlife (Wild Birds) (Open Seasons) (Amendment) Order, 2000.
2. In this Order the “Principal Order” means the Wildlife (Wild Birds) (Open Seasons) (Amendment) Order, 1979 ( S.I. No. 192 of 1979 as amended.
3. The First Schedule to the “Principle Order” is hereby amended by the substitution of the following Part for Part I:

The period beginning on the 1st day of June in each year and ending on the 31st day of January in the year immediately following that year.

The period beginning on the 1st day of September in each year and ending on the 15th day of October in the same year.

The period beginning on the 1st day of September in each year and ending on the 15th day of October in the same year.

The period beginning on the 16th day of October in each year and ending on the 31st day of January in the year immediately following that year.

The effect of this Order is to amend the Open Seasons list of huntable species of wild birds by the extension of the hunting season for the Greylag Goose and Canada Goose from the 30th day of September to the 15th day of October on a countrywide basis.
