S.I. No. 657/2001 - Continental Shelf (Designated Areas) Order, 2001
The Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 2 (3) of the Continental Shelf Act, 1968 (No.14 of 1968), hereby make the following order:
1.       This Order may be cited as the Continental Shelf (Designated Areas) Order 2001.
2.       The area set out in paragraph 1 of the Schedule to this Order is hereby designated as an area within which the rights of the State outside the territorial seas over the sea bed and subsoil for the purpose of exploring such sea bed and subsoil and exploiting their natural resources are exercisable.
SCHEDULE
1.       The area bounded by -
(a)     two direct lines (a parallel of latitude and a geodesic respectively) joining the following points, in the sequence given in the following table:

(b)     the line of the seaward limit of the territorial sea from the point deemed to be specified at reference C in subparagraph (a) of this paragraph southwards to the point deemed to be specified at reference 1 of that subparagraph.
2.       (a)     For the purpose of paragraph 1(a) of this Schedule there shall be deemed to be specified at each of the references 2 and C a point being the point where the co-ordinates of latitude and longitude mentioned at that reference meet.
(b)     The points deemed to be specified at references 1 to 2 and 2 to C in paragraph 1(a) are defined by co-ordinates of latitude and longitude on World Geodetic System 1984 datum (WGS 1984).

This Order provides for the designation of an additional area of the Continental Shelf beyond that designated in SI 92 of 1993, in which the rights of the State in regard to the natural resources of the sea bed and subsoil of the Continental Shelf may be exercised.
