S.I. No. 15/2002 - Environmental Protection Agency (Selection Procedures) (Amendment) Regulations, 2002
The Minister for the Environment and Local Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 6 , 21 (11) and 24 (7) of the Environmental Protection Agency Act, 1992 (No. 7 of 1992), hereby makes the following Regulations:-

1.   These Regulations may be cited as the Environmental Protection Agency (Selection Procedures) (Amendment) Regulations, 2002.

2.   The Environmental Protection Agency (Selection Procedures) Regulations, 1992, are hereby amended by —
(a)            the insertion in sub-article (1)(a) of article 3 after “Secretary to the Government” of “or, where an appointment is made by the Minister pursuant to section 21(3) of the Act of 1992 in the case of the Secretary General to the Government, by the Secretary General of the Department of the Environment and Local Government”, and
(b)            the substitution for sub-article (4) of article 8 of the following sub-article:
“(4) If the Secretary General to the Government is not present at a meeting of the committee, the Secretary General of the Department of the Environment and Local Government shall preside at the meeting.”

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This is not part of the instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation).
These Regulations amend the Environmental Protection Agency (Selection Procedures) Regulations, 1992 ( S.I. No. 215 of 1992 ) so as to provide that, where the Secretary General to the Government is unable to participate in proceedings of the selection committee, the Secretary General of the Department of the Environment and Local Government shall assume the powers and duties conferred on the Secretary General to the Government by the Environmental Protection Agency (Selection Procedures) Regulations, 1992.
