European Communities (Mechanically Propelled Vehicle Entry into Service) (Amendment) (No 2) Regulations 2006.
I, Martin Cullen, Minister for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act 1972 (No. 27 of 1972) and for the purpose of giving effect to Directive 2005/55/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 28 September 20051 , in so far as it relates to the entry into service of motor vehicles, hereby make the following regulations:

1.  These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Mechanically Propelled Vehicle Entry into Service) (Amendment) (No.2) Regulations 2006.

2.       The European Communities (Mechanically Propelled Vehicle Entry into Service) Regulations 2003 ( S.I. No. 551 of 2003 ) are amended by substituting for Schedule 2 (inserted by the European Communities (Mechanically Propelled Vehicle Entry into Service) (Amendment) Regulations 2006 ( S.I. No. 164 of 2006 ) the following:

Explanatory Note
(This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation)
The European Communities (Mechanically Propelled Vehicle Entry into Service) Regulations 2003 ( S.I. No. 551 of 2003 ) implemented in Ireland entry into service provisions of a number of European Community directives which deal with the type approval/entry into service of motor vehicles. The relevant directives are listed in Schedules 1 and 2 to those Regulations.
Subsequent Regulations have been made amending S.I. No. 551 of 2003 , the latest being the European Communities (Mechanically Propelled Vehicle Entry into Service) Regulations 2006 ( S.I. No. 164 of 2006 ) by substituting new Schedules 1 and 2 to take account of further directives subsequently adopted.
These Regulations further amend S.I. No. 551 of 2003 , as amended by S.I. No. 164 of 2006 , by substituting a new Schedule 2 to give effect in Irish law to the following additional Directive of the European Parliament and of the Council:
Directive 2005/55/EC (relating to emissions of gaseous and particulate pollutants).
Schedule 1, as inserted by S.I. No. 164 of 2006 , continues to apply.
