Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in
“Iris Oifigiúil” of 1st February, 2011.
The Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 8 of the Wildlife Act, 1976 (No. 39 of 1976) as amended by section 7 of the Wildlife (Amendment) Act, 2000 (No. 38 of 2000) (as adapted by the Environment and Local Government (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister Order 2003 ( S.I. No. 233 of 2003 )) hereby orders as follows:
1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Wildlife (Wild Birds) (Open Seasons) (Amendment) Order 2011.
(2) The Wildlife (Wild Birds) (Open Seasons) Orders, 1979 to 2010, and this Order may be cited together as the Wildlife (Wild Birds) (Open Seasons) Orders, 1979 to 2011.
2. In this Order "the Principal Order" means the Wildlife (Wild Birds) (Open Seasons) Order, 1979 ( S.I. No. 192 of 1979 ).
3. The First Schedule to the Principal Order is hereby amended by the insertion of the following entry in Part 1:

OPEN SEASON
PLACES IN THE STATE

(3)
Cock Pheasant, Woodpigeon
From 1 February 2011 to 28 February 2011, both dates inclusive.
Throughout the State, exclusive of the areas specified in the Second Schedule of the Principal Order, as amended.

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation.)
The effect of this Order is to amend the Open Seasons list of huntable species of wild birds by the addition of the species, Cock Pheasant and Woodpigeon for the period from 1st February 2011 to 28th February 2011, both dates inclusive, throughout the State exclusive of the areas specified in the Second Schedule of the Principal Order as amended.
