1. This Act may be cited as the Guyana National
Service (Pensions and Gratuities) Act.
2. In this Act “Guyana National Service” has the same
meaning as in section 2 of the Representation of the People
Act.
3. (1) The provisions of the Defence (Pensions
and Gratuities) Regulations shall apply in relation to an
officer or other rank of the Guyana National Service as they
apply in relation to an officer or soldier of the Guyana
Defence Force and for that purpose shall be construed with
any necessary modifications, adaptations, qualifications and
exceptions, and, without prejudice to the generality of the
foregoing, subject, in particular for the purpose of such
application, to the provisions of subsections (2) and (3).
(2) Reference in the said Regulations to officers

and soldiers shall be construed as being references to
officers and other ranks of the Guyana National Service; and
references to Force shall be construed as references to the
Guyana National Service.
(3) Regulation 20(2) shall be construed and have
effect as if there were inserted the following paragraph
immediately after paragraph (f)—
“(ff) service in the Guyana Defence Force;”
