amending Annex II (Technical regulations, standards, testing and certification) to the EEA Agreement
THE EEA JOINT COMMITTEE,
Having regard to the Agreement on the European Economic Area, as amended by the Protocol adjusting the Agreement on the European Economic Area, hereinafter referred to as "the Agreement", and in particular Article 98 thereof,
Whereas:
(1) Annex II to the Agreement was amended by Decision No 74/2000 of the EEA Joint Committee of 2 October 2000(1).
(2) Directive 1999/2/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 22 February 1999 on the approximation of the laws of the Member States concerning foods and food ingredients treated with ionising radiation(2) is to be incorporated into the Agreement.
(3) Directive 1999/3/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 22 February 1999 on the establishment of a Community list of foods and food ingredients treated with ionising radiation(3) is to be incorporated into the Agreement,
HAS DECIDED AS FOLLOWS:
Article 1
The following points shall be inserted after point 54w (Commission Directive 1999/21/EC) in Chapter XII of Annex II to the Agreement: "54x. 399 L 0002: Directive 1999/2/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 22 February 1999 on the approximation of the laws of the Member States concerning foods and food ingredients treated with ionising radiation (OJ L 66, 13.3.1999, p. 16).
54y. 399 L 0003: Directive 1999/3/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 22 February 1999 on the establishment of a Community list of food and food ingredients treated with ionising radiation (OJ L 66, 13.3.1999, p. 24)."
Article 2
The texts of Directives 1999/2/EC and 1999/3/EC in the Icelandic and Norwegian languages, to be published in the EEA Supplement to the Official Journal of theEuropean Communities, shall be authentic.
Article 3
This Decision shall enter into force on 24 February 2001, provided that all the notifications under Article 103(1) of the Agreement have been made to the EEA Joint Committee(4).
Article 4
This Decision shall be published in the EEA section of, and in the EEA Supplement to, the Official Journal of the European Communities.
