COUNCIL JOINT ACTION 2005/142/CFSP

of 17 February 2005

amending Joint Action 2004/789/CFSP on the extension of the European Union Police Mission in the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (EUPOL Proxima)

THE COUNCIL OF THE EUROPEAN UNION,

Having regard to the Treaty on European Union and, in particular, Articles 14 and 25(3) thereof,

Whereas:

On 22 November 2004 the Council adopted Joint Action 2004/789/CFSP (1) extending the European Union Police Mission (EUPOL Proxima) in the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia from 15 December 2004 to 14 December 2005.

(2)

The Political and Security Committee should be authorised to take the relevant decisions on the setting-up of a Committee of Contributors for EUPOL Proxima, in line with the document on ‘Consultations and Modalities for the Contribution of non-EU States to EU Civilian Crisis Management’ approved by the Council on 10 December 2002.

(3)

Joint Action 2004/789/CFSP should be amended accordingly,

HAS ADOPTED THIS JOINT ACTION:

Article 1

The following paragraph shall be added to Article 9 of Joint Action 2004/789/CFSP:

‘7.   The Political and Security Committee shall take the relevant decisions on the setting-up of a Committee of Contributors.’

Article 2

This Joint Action shall enter into force on the date of its adoption.

Article 3

This Joint Action shall be published in the Official Journal of the European Union.
