An Act to amend the Citizenship Act

R.S., c. C-29Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows:

1. Section 11 of the Citizenship Act is amended by adding the following after subsection (1):

Marginal note:Exception

(1.1) The requirement set out in paragraph (1)(d) does not apply to a person who ceased to be a citizen, before February 15, 1977, because a parent of that person ceased to be a citizen as a result of

(a) acquiring the nationality or citizenship of a country other than Canada; or

(b) renouncing his or her Canadian citizenship.
