Order Granting the Remission of Customs Duties in Respect of Vessels Chartered by CN Marine Corporation for the Atlantic Region Ferry Service
P.C. 1978-1136 1978-04-13His Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of National Revenue and the Treasury Board, with the concurrence of the Canadian Transport Commission, pursuant to section 17 of the Financial Administration Act, is pleased hereby to revoke the Newfoundland Gulf Ferry Remission Order made by Order in Council P.C. 1974-2332 of 22nd October, 1974Footnote 1 and to make the annexed Order granting the remission of Customs duty in respect of vessels chartered by CN Marine Corporation for the Atlantic Region Ferry Service.

1 This Order may be cited as the Atlantic Region Ferry Remission Order.

Remission

2 (1) Subject to subsection (2), remission is hereby granted of all customs duties paid or payable under the Customs Tariff in respect of vessels chartered by CN Marine Corporation for the intraprovincial and interprovincial conveyance of goods and passengers in the Atlantic provinces and in respect of spare parts for those vessels that are needed in their operation while so chartered.
(2) It is a condition of this remission that the Water Transport Committee of the Canadian Transport Commission inform the Minister of National Revenue that no suitable vessel is available for the required service.
