Order Extending Duty and Tax Relief Privileges to Members of the Administrative and Technical Staff of the Embassy of the United States, and Members of their Families, in Canada
P.C. 1993-1544 1993-07-21His Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the joint recommendation of the Secretary of State for External Affairs and the Minister of Finance, pursuant to subsection 4(2) of the Foreign Missions and International Organizations ActFootnote *, is pleased hereby to make the annexed Order extending duty and tax relief privileges to members of the administrative and technical staff of the Embassy of the United States, and members of their families, in Canada.

1 This Order may be cited as the Administrative and Technical Staff of the Embassy of the United States and Families Duty and Tax Relief Privileges Order.

Privileges

2 (1) Subject to subsection (2), the duty and tax relief privileges accorded to diplomatic agents under section 3 of the Foreign Missions and International Organizations Act shall extend to the members of the administrative and technical staff of the Embassy of the United States, and to the members of their families forming part of their households, in Canada.
(2) The privileges referred to in subsection (1) shall not extend to members of the administrative and technical staff, or to the members of their families forming part of their households, who are nationals or permanent residents of Canada.
