An Act Respecting the Use of Certain
Properties for Industrial Purposes

Short title
1 This Act may be cited as the Industrial Property Act. R.S., c. 225,s. 1.

2 In this Act,

(a) "demised lands" means the lands together with the privilegesand appurtenances thereto belonging which were demised andleased by the lease mentioned in this Act;

(b) "Minister" means the Minister of Industry, Trade andTechnology. R.S., c. 225, s. 2.

Lease to Province ratified
3 The lease from the Dominion of Canada to the Province made thefifteenth day of October, 1947, of the lands known as His MajestysRoyal Canadian Naval Base, situate at Shelburne in the County ofShelburne, which lease was registered the fifth day of December, 1947,in the office of the Registrar of Deeds at Shelburne in Book 69 at page583 is ratified and confirmed. R.S., c. 225, s. 3.

Lease by Province for industrial use
4 The Minister may, from time to time, in the name of Her Majestyin right of the Province, issue leases or licences or other permissionswhatsoever, not inconsistent with the Provinces title, in respect of thewhole or any part or parts of the demised lands for such terms and uponsuch conditions and to such person or persons as the Minister deemsexpedient for the purposes of assisting, or encouraging the establishingof, industries and for purposes incidental or related thereto and for suchother purpose or purposes as the Governor in Council may approve. R.S., c. 225, s. 4.

Management and servicing of demised land
5 Subject to any such leases, licences or other permissions, theMinister may manage and use the demised lands for the said purposes,or any of them, and may maintain and operate thereon or in connectiontherewith such services and facilities as he deems expedient, including,but not so as to restrict the generality of the foregoing, water, electric,fire protection and sewage services and may supply the same to suchpersons and upon such conditions as he deems expedient. R.S., c. 225,s. 5.

Purchase of land by Minister as agent
6 The Minister may, as the agent of any person who is carrying on,or intends to carry on, any industry in the Province whether on thedemised lands or elsewhere, purchase in the name of Her Majesty anyland, building, chattel or other thing and may in the name of Her Majestytransfer and convey the same to such person, provided that the purchaseprice has been supplied by such person prior to the purchase by theMinister R.S., c. 225, s. 6.

Exercise of powers of Minister
7 Any of the powers or authorities by this Act conferred upon theMinister may be exercised at the request of the Minister by any othermember of the Executive Council. R.S., c. 225, s. 7.

Source of funds
8 Moneys required for the purposes of this Act shall be deemed to bemoneys required for the ordinary or usual services of a department of thepublic service. R.S., c. 225, s. 8.
