MOTOR CAR (CONSTRUCTION, EQUIPMENT AND USE) AMENDMENT
REGULATIONS 2011

The Minister responsible for Transport, in exercise of the power conferred by
section 102 of the Motor Car Act 1951, makes the following Regulations:

Citation
These Regulations may be cited as the Motor Car (Construction, Equipment and

Use) Amendment Regulations 2011.

Amends regulation 2
Regulation 2(1) of the Motor Car (Construction, Equipment and Use) Regulations

1952 (in these Regulations referred to as “the principal Regulations”) is amended by
inserting the following definition in its proper alphabetical position—

“ “Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW)” means the maximum weight that a motor
vehicle should not exceed;”.

Amends regulation 4
Regulation 4(1)(b) of the principal Regulations is amended by deleting “tare” and

substituting “Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW)”.

Amends regulation 27
Regulation 27 of the principal Regulations is amended—

by deleting the headnote and substituting “Gross Vehicle Weight load
marking; trucks and trailers”;

by revoking paragraph (1) and substituting the following paragraph—

The owner of a truck or trailer shall cause the manufacturer’s Gross
Vehicle Weight (GVW) rating to be painted in one straight line on a conspicuous
part of the right or off-side of the truck or trailer as the Minister may in each case
direct.”; and

“(1)

in paragraph (2) by deleting “tare” and substituting “Gross Vehicle Weight
(GVW)”.
