AMENDMENT ORDER 2008
The Minister of Health, in exercise of the powers conferred on
him by section 13(2) of the Health Insurance Act 1970, makes the
following Order:
Citation and commencement
1 This Order, which amends the Health Insurance (Health
Insurance Plan) (Premium) Order 1987 (the “principal Order”), may be
cited as the Health Insurance (Health Insurance Plan) (Premium)
Amendment Order 2008 and shall come into operation on 1 April 2008.
Rescinds and replaces paragraphs 2 and 3
2 Paragraphs 2 and 3 of the principal Order are rescinded and
replaced by the following—
"Premium
2 Subject to paragraph 3, the premium (including the
standard premium) to be paid to the Council in respect of each
health insurance plan effected with the Council under the Act
shall be $218.61 a month (or $50.45 a week where paid weekly).
Persons over the age of 65 years
3 (1) Subject to subparagraph 2, the premium (including
the standard premium) in respect of persons over the age of 65

years to be paid to the Council in respect of each health
insurance plan effected with the Council under the Act shall be
$201.50 a month (or $46.50 a week where paid weekly).
(2) The premium (including the standard premium) to be
paid to the Council in respect of each health insurance plan
effected with the Council under the Act for persons over the age
of sixty-five years who do not qualify for subsidised hospital
treatment under section 2(1) of the Act shall be $694.61 a month
(or $160.29 a week where paid weekly).".
