The Minister responsible for Health, in exercise of the powers
conferred on him by section 40(1)(b) of the Health Insurance Act 1970,
makes the following Regulations:

Citation
1 These Regulations may be cited as the Health Insurance
(Standard Premium) Regulations 2007.

Standard premium
2 Subject to regulation 3, the standard premium payable in
respect of the standard hospital benefit shall be $173.84 a month (or
$40.12 a week where paid weekly) of which $21.25 a month (or $4.90 a
week) shall be paid into the Mutual Re-Insurance Fund.

Persons over the age of 65
3 The standard premium payable in respect of the standard
hospital benefit for persons over the age of sixty-five years who do not
qualify for subsidised hospital treatment under section 2(1)(b) of the Act
shall be $630.17 a month (or $145.42 a week) of which $21.25 a month
(or $4.90 a week) shall be paid into the Mutual Re-Insurance Fund.

Revocation of BR 27/2006
4 The Health Insurance (Standard Premium) Regulations 2006 are
revoked.

Commencement
5 These Regulations shall come into operation on 1 April 2007.
