BERMUDA GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIPS AMENDMENT ACT

WHEREAS it is expedient to amend the Bermuda Government
Scholarships Act 1958.

Be it enacted by The Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and
with the advice and consent of the Senate and the House of Assembly of
Bermuda, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

Short title
1 This Act may be cited as the Bermuda Government Scholarships
Amendment Act 2003.

Amendment of section 3
2 Section 3 of the Bermuda Government Scholarships Act 1958 (in
this Act referred to as "the principal Act") is amended by deleting
"$15,000" and substituting the following—

"$25,000.00".

Substitution of section 4
3 The principal Act is amended by repealing section 4 and
substituting the following section—

"Power of Minister to extend scholarship
4 The Minister may extend the term during which a Bermuda
Government Scholarship is tenable, for a further year, to enable
the holder to undertake or complete a course of study which has
been approved by the Minister.".

Amendment of section 7
4 Section 7 of the principal Act is amended

(a) by deleting "$12,500" and substituting

"$25,000.00"; and

(b) by deleting all the words

beginning with "or such increased sum" and ending with
"under this Act".
