HOSPITAL INSURANCE (STANDARD PREMIUM) REGULATIONS
2002

The Minister, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by
section 40(1)(b) of the Hospital Insurance Act 1970, makes the following
Regulations:

Citation and commencement
1 These Regulations may be cited as the Hospital Insurance
(Standard Premium) Regulations 2002 and shall come into operation on
1 April 2002.

Standard premium
2 Subject to regulation 3, the standard premium payable in
respect of standard hospital benefit shall be $103.90¢ a month (or
$23.98¢ a week where paid weekly) of which $16.40¢ a month (or $3.78¢
a week) shall be paid into the Mutual Re-Insurance Fund.

Persons over the age of 65
3 The standard premium payable in respect of standard hospital
benefit for persons over the age of sixty-five years who do not qualify for
subsidised hospital treatment under section 2(1)(b) of the Act shall be
$366.40¢ a month (or $84.55¢ a week) of which $16.40¢ a month (or
$3.78¢ a week) shall be paid into the Mutual Re-Insurance Fund.

Rescission
4 The Hospital Insurance (Standard Premium) Regulations 2001
are rescinded.
