THE TELECOMMUNICATIONS (BERMUDA LAND
DEVELOPMENT COMPANY) EXEMPTION ORDER 2000

In exercise of the power conferred on her by section 66 of the
Telecommunications Act 1986, the Minister of Telecommunications and
E-Commerce makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement
1 This Order may be cited as the Telecommunications (Bermuda
Land Development Company) Exemption Order 2000 and shall come into
operation on 25th February 2000.

Interpretation
2 In this Order—

(a) "the 1996 Act" means the Base Lands Development Act
1996;

(b) "the Company" means the Bermuda Land Development
Company Limited, established under the 1996 Act;

(c) "Southside" means that part of the scheduled land (within
the meaning of the 1996 Act) situated in St David's in the
Parish of St George's which was leased to the Company in
accordance with the 1996 Act.

Exemption
3 Subject to article 4, the Company is hereby exempted for a
period of one year from all those provisions of the Telecommunications
Act 1986 and the regulations made under that Act which would

otherwise require it to be licensed in respect of the provision by it of
telecommunications services in Southside.

Condition of exemption
4 The exemption mentioned in article 3 shall cease on 1st July
2000 unless by that date the Company has applied for the requisite
licence under the Telecommunications Act 1986 and the regulations
made under that Act.
