CUSTOMS TARIFF AMENDMENT ACT 2000

WHEREAS it is expedient to amend the Customs Tariff Act 1970:

Be it enacted by The Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and
with the advice and consent of the Senate and the House of Assembly of
Bermuda, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

Citation
1 This Act which amends the Customs Tariff Act 1970 may be
cited as the Customs Tariff Amendment Act 2000.

Interpretation
2 In this Act "the commencement date" means 18 February 2000.

Amends First Schedule to Customs Tariff Act 1970
3 The First Schedule to the Customs Tariff Act 1970 is amended—

(a) in SECTION TWO—

(i) in item 06.000, in the second column, by
deleting the words "cut flowers";

(ii) by inserting next after item 06.0100 in the
appropriate columns the following new item—

"06.0310 Fresh cut flowers
and flower buds
of a kind suitable
for bouquets or
for ornamental
purposes value 22.25%;

(b) in SECTION FOUR, in item 24.0220 appearing under the
heading "Duty Paid"—

(i) by deleting "per kilogram" under the heading
"Unit for Duty" and substituting "per cigarette";
and

(ii) by deleting "83.00" under the heading "Rate of
Duty" and substituting "10¢";

(c) in SECTION ELEVEN—

(i) in item 61.000, under the heading "Rate of
Duty", by deleting "22.25%" and substituting
"10%"; and

(ii) by deleting item 61.0050".

Commencement
4 This Act is deemed to have come into operation on 18 February
2000.
