THE BARRISTERS CODE OF PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT
AMENDMENT RULES 1999
The Bar Council, in exercise of the power conferred upon it by
section 9 of the Bermuda Bar Act 1974, makes the following Rules:
Citation
1 These Rules may be cited as the Barristers Code of Professional
Conduct Amendment Rules 1999.
Interpretation
2 In these Rules
"Code" means the Barristers Code of Professional Conduct 1981;
"rule" means rule of the Code.
Revocation and replacement of rule 85
3 Rule 85 is amended by revoking paragraph (2) and sub-
stituting
" (2) Save in accordance with Bar Council guidelines, a
barrister may not do, or cause or allow to be done on his behalf,
anything for the purpose of touting, whether directly or
indirectly, or anything likely to lead to a reasonable inference

that the thing done was done for that purpose.".
